Carpenter

The Cincinnati Art Museum has an opening for a full-time Carpenter, responsible for all carpentry work at the museum and the maintenance of shop equipment.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Coordinator of 3-D Design and Installation, the Carpenter will perform onsite field construction such as framing, the building and standing of walls and doors, hanging drywall, plywood and other wall coverings at a high speed pace to keep up with museum deadlines. Climbs ladders and works on ladders with multiple types of tools such as hammers, drills, air nailer, crowbars, pry bars, and at the same time with multiple types of hardware such as screws, bolts and various types of ceiling hardware at heights of up to ten feet and weights of up to 100. Deciphers multiple types of construction drawings, such as CAD drawings, dealing with multiple exhibitions, casework, platforms and wall configurations. Also, drawings pertaining to such spaces as Art World and other educational and development projects as they are scheduled.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or general education degree plus carpenter classes or trade school training.
• General knowledge of power tools and the safe use thereof.
• Ability to read, decipher and execute work from construction drawings.
• Must be able to lift and work with a weight of up to 100 lbs.
• Able to work at a fast pace as well as able to work on several projects at once while adhering to deadlines.
• Basic computer knowledge such as Word, Microsoft office and the ability to work on the Internet for normal research and labor management.
